It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Yes, it’s that time of the year
where we put up our Christmas trees, drink our eggnog, and gather with our
families. Everyone desires to go to Rockefeller
Center, as it turns into Manhattan’s winter wonder land. Oh how sweet it is to look at families,
couples, and friends skate on the ice ring full of laughter and cheer. Some
even get to really be cozy up by a fire and just enjoy the warmth of the night.
Aw the holidays.
Yet for others, this can be the
worse time of the year. It’s that time
of the year where you are reminded of that empty seat at your table. Times you shared with your spouse is now having
to be dealt with alone. I find myself still struggling when I see an older
couple enjoying one another, as I just want to stop and ask God why I wasn’t allowed
to grow old with the one I loved.
Like a mild wind I heard the Holy
Spirit say this within me: what are you
focusing on the most during this time of the year? If it’s supposed to be a time of the year
when we truly acknowledge the birth of The Savior, then it IS the most
wonderful time of the year. I had to
admit that thought made me have a Selah moment.
To widows, yes we are silently
hurting still for the loss of our love ones.
As a line in Marvel’s Wanda’s Vision show, what is grief than love persevering. Oh but how much more is God’s love for
us. He loved us while we are even in our
mother’s womb. He loves us so that he
came down and beneath himself by taking on this flesh so that He can be our
High Priest that understands every tear, every pain, and yes even grief. Let’s put our focus on our Savior. When you think about it that way, it IS the
most wonderful time of the year.
Be encouraged.
